Our Program
On this page I will elaborate on the brief paragraph found on the home page.
Here at RagTyme we have a somewhat different view on breeding, and our priorites are different from most breeders. I will outline each aspect of our program so that you may better understand where we stand on certain issues.
Health
Our first priority is to produce the healthiest puppies possible. Health is of the utmost importance and without it NOTHING else would matter. What good is the most beautiful dog in the world if it is rittled with health problems.
Longevity
Second we strive to produce long lived dogs. Again what good is a beautiful dog that dies at 6 or 7. Longevity is believed to directly relate to the amount of linebreeding done. With a little research you will easily find that as linebreeding has grown in popularity, the life expectancy of our boxers has decreased. Please take the time to read the following article, you may just learn a thing or two (if you are willing).
Temperament
Third is temperament. A rock solid and stable temperament is extremely important. We do not tolerate aggression of ANY kind. The truth is a lot of puppies go to families with children. We are quite comfortable placing our puppies in these homes with confidence. So many dogs now days have unstable temperaments, many of which can be found in the show ring. Is it O.K. for your dog to turn on your child because he/she is beautiful and is a CH. I THINK NOT!!! All the titles in the world will/would not undo the damage done by a dog with an unstable temperament.
Beauty
Last but definitely not least is beauty. We strive to produce dogs that turn heads wherever they go. Taking the standard into careful consideration, striving for the perfect boxer. Each breeding is carefully considered to assure that the dog and bitch compliment each other perfectly. However, health, longevity, and/or temperament will never be compromised. We feel that beauty is a bonus secondary to the health, longevity, and temperament.
We strive for the TOTAL package with every breeding. While one aspect is not compromised for another, there is a hierarchy that must be honored in order to produce a TRULY PERFECT BOXER.
